We understand that injuries are challenging and can derail your fitness goals

Our physiotherapists are also athletes who have learned from their own injuries that rehabilitation from experienced therapists gets you back on track more quickly and efficiently.

We will explain the process so that you can be an active participant in your healing. Using open communication and continued goal setting we will help restore your physical well being.

My family and I have been exclusively treated by both Shannon and Jenna for almost 20 years. They both have an outstanding level of knowledge of the human body and a strong understanding of how to treat both acute and chronic pain. They have additional expertise in specific treatment modalities beyond that of your average physiotherapist (ie., hands on manipulative therapy), making them a trusted source for any physiotherapy-related need. Beyond their incredible skill-sets, they both take an extremely kind, compassionate approach to care, ensuring my family and I feel heard and supported. We would highly recommend both Shannon and Jenna to any person looking for a physiotherapist.

Shannon has been great to work with. She finds the right balance of physio and exercises that I can do independently.

Initial Assessments

If you are new to the clinic or have a new injury that needs to be assessed, book a 60 minute comprehensive initial assessment.

Follow-up Appointments

Discuss with your physiotherapist whether you should book a 30 minute or a 45 minute follow up. It may depend on the body part being treated or the stage of recovery.

Shockwave Therapy Add-On

Shockwave is an excellent adjunct to therapy especially in cases of calcific tissue, deep trigger points and myofascial tightness. Discuss with your therapist if this is an option for you

FAQs

Do I need a doctor's referral to see a physiotherapist?

A doctor’s referral is not required to see a physiotherapist or massage therapist at The Sports Health Experts. Some extended health insurance benefit plans do require a doctor’s prescription or referral in order for you to be reimbursed for these services.

What do I need to bring to my therapy appointment?

Please wear or bring loose comfortable clothing that allows your provider to assess and treat your area of concern. Patients with low back, hip or knee issues should bring a pair of gym shorts to every treatment visit. Patients with neck or shoulder concerns should bring a tank top or sports bra to each therapy visit.

Is physiotherapy treatment covered by OHIP?

No, physiotherapy services at The Sports Health Experts are not covered by OHIP.

Are physiotherapy treatments covered by my extended health benefits plan?

That depends on your insurance coverage policy. Contact your insurance provider to find out what services they cover and whether you will need a prescription from a doctor to submit with your claim.

Is there a fee for a missed appointment or a late cancellation?
We are committed to providing all of our patients with exceptional care. When a patient cancels last minute, or fails to show for their appointment, they prevent another patient from being seen. At least 24 hours notice is required for any appointment cancellations or rescheduling for ALL of our providers (doctors, physiotherapists and massage therapists). Appointments cancelled or changed with less than 24 hours notice and missed appointments will have the credit card on file charged. The fee must be paid before rescheduling or attending any future appointments. In the event there is no credit card information on file, no appointment with any provider can be booked until the fee has been paid and any existing bookings will be cancelled.
I have a new injury but I am already seeing a physiotherapist for a different injury, do I still need to book an initial assessment for the new one?
Yes, you need to book an initial assessment for every new injury or condition to be assessed.
Can I choose which provider I want to see?
Yes, you can select any of our physiotherapists in order to see their schedule and book an appointment with them.
Can I book multiple appointments at the same time?
When you use the secure online booking portal, it will only allow you to book one appointment. You can use the portal as many times in a row as you would like to book multiple appointments, but you will have to go through all of the portal steps to book each appointment separately.
Why do I need to give my Health Card Number if I am seeing a physiotherapist or massage therapist and not a doctor?
Your personal health number is used to create your unique file in our secure electronic system.
